This 2618 Aluminum spacer is coated with 5 coats of Dow Corning® 321 Dry Film Lubricant (Molybdenum Disulfide). The spacer is taken out of service when the component has been used for about 15,000 hours. The spacer must then be cleaned without sacrificing any stock.
The component is inserted into an eOx AeroTech 2000-filled ultrasonic cleaner preheated to 54 C for 3 minutes. After rinsing with tap water, the component is air dried. A fresh, white towel was then used to wipe the component. The molybdenum disulfide had not altered the color of the towel. The component exhibited “in service staining.”
The new aqueous cleaner eOx AeroTech 2000 complies with ARP 1755B and is intended for cleaning turbine engine components.
